If the app prompts “Compass calibration required” during flight or when an aircraft is in used after left idle for a long period of time, consult this article to calibrate the compass using the aircraft or DJI RC 2/DJI RC Pro/DJI RC.

Calibrating the Compass Using the Aircraft

Pre-Calibration Preparations

1. Download and install the correct app on the mobile device, power on the aircraft, and link it to the remote controller.

2. Unfold the aircraft arms.

3. Make sure that the battery level is at least 50%.

* Do not calibrate near strong magnetic fields or large pieces of metal, such as large electrical equipment, parking lots, ships or buildings with underground steel columns.

Calibrating the Compass

For DJI Mini 4 Pro, DJI Air 3, DJI Mavic 3 series, DJI Mini series, DJI Air 2S, and Mavic Air 2 users:

Enter the flight interface in DJI Fly, tap “···” > “Safety” > “Sensors” > “Compass” > “Calibration”, tap “Calibration”, and follow the on-screen instructions to properly place the aircraft.

For DJI FPV and DJI Avata series users:

Goggles are required when performing a compass calibration on DJI FPV and DJI Avata. Power on the goggles, go to "Setting" > “Safety” > “Aircraft Compass Calibration”, tap “Start”, and follow the on-screen prompts.

For Mavic 2 Series, Phantom 4 Series, and Spark users:

Enter the flight interface in DJI GO 4, go to “ ··· ” > “Main Controller Settings” > “Advanced Settings” > “Sensors” > “Compass” > “Calibrate Compass”, and follow the on-screen instructions.

In the event of a compass calibration failure, restart the aircraft and go through the steps above. If this issue remains, send your drone back to DJI for testing, and click here to submit a repair request .

Calibrating the Compass Using DJI RC 2/DJI RC Pro/DJI RC

After the remote controller is powered on, pull down the screen, and tap the gear icon at the upper right corner to enter the settings page. Find "Compass Calibration", tap "Start Calibration", and hold the remote controller to draw an “8-figure” path. When DJI RC 2/DJI RC Pro or DJI RC prompts "Calibration Complete”, the compass is calibrated.

* To ensure that the compass calibration is complete successfully, do not touch the screen during the calibration process. Otherwise, you may accidentally exit the compass calibration page.

In the event of a compass calibration failure, restart the remote controller, and go through the steps above. If this issue remains, send your remote controller back to DJI for testing, and click here to submit a repair request .
